That may work for some entrepreneurs, but does not promote innovation in an organization. In fact, it is often the hot-shots that stop innovation in its tracks.
Decades of research shows that great innovators are great collaborators. They build wide and diverse networks that help them identify the seemingly random bits of information and insight that you need to crack a really tough problem. They succeed not by necessarily knowing any more than anybody else, but by “knowing who knows.” Great innovators are not knowledge holders, but knowledge brokers.
